Ottobre

20.10.15

I was really happy to be invited as one of the "portuguese bloggers sew Ottobre tour", celebrating the magazine's 15th birthday.
It took me some time to decide what to sew because Ottobre is ( for me ) mainly about kids and knits and I didn't have any cute knits in hand to sew something for my 4 year old boy. After some thinking and some searching I finally chose pattern 15 from Ottobre 5/2015, and decided to make it for my 13 year old daughter ( she is bigger than me, anyway..), with a knit I had in my stash, a black and white polka dot that I got here.
It was probably not the best choice, as the fabric is too thin for a sweat shirt, but I think it turned out ok, and the truth is my big girl is happy, and that is what really matters!

Ottobre patterns are usually easy making and original  and this was no exception. The sleeve construction is easy and funny, the hood is also easy to assemble and it turns out to be a quick make.

Temperamental a maquineta..

During this make all kinds of disasters happened, I sew my own finger ( you know it hurts ), I cut another finger, while making dinner ( yeah.. you know fingers are usefull when you sew...) I travelled to Lisbon and carried my sewing machine along with all my love and then the sewing machine had some kind of panic attack and wouldn't work, and a few hours later it worked  perfectly, just like nothing happened! Kind of temperamental...

In the end it all turned out right and there was even time for a small photo-shoot during those 5 precious minutes without rain, this Monday!
